1967



My 69 is now going to a good home. Got the insurance money from my recent accident then drove for a day to buy this 67FL complete with some mid 70's customizing .. 71 superglide fork, Dual Hurst Mini disc front brake, Invaders.. Motor is low miles and still has stock bore on the cylinders. The owner has had it for 29 yrs and was good friends with the second owner who customised it from stock with most of what is on it now.
Stayed up most of the night talking and looking at old photos with him and his wife; felt like old friends and a little like I was adopting a child. I stayed at their house but couldn't fall asleep. Drove all day back again cracked out. Good times! In the end I ended up with the 67 shovelhead that I wanted all along. I couldn't bare to tell the owner that I was going to totally change the bike and put the motor in a completely different frame. I wont sell the original swingarm frame though.. one day maybe I'll put the motor back in it.

paging Mr Hunt, Mr Joe Hunt

Update - My life with the Thrill Kill Magnetos : Put the Joe Hunt back on and the bike fired up in only 20 kicks! Or maybe that was 40, who's counting at this point.. anything under 1000 seems like a victory. If I lived on a hill I could just bump start it and then never shut it off till I got home. I'm sending the Morris on a vacation to meet his maker, like Roy Batty meeting Tyrell in Blade Runner. Hope he doesn't squeeze his eyeballs out.

morris was a hero to most but he never meant shit to me

magnetos .. my POS just wont have it... spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to make both these things work. They did when they felt like it. Had the morris working well yesterday, well meaning when I finally got it started the bike ran great.. then the thing wouldn't start today at all.. just a few puffs.. redid the timing three times to make sure it was dead on, gaped the plugs, the points, cleaned the plugs a million times.. in the end all I got is a sore leg. I don't want to go back to a battery, distributor, coil setup but this shit aint moto if it wont start.
